Vestkystfestivalen

Director of Scottish delegation to new Norwegian music festival

fjellfestning-skyview In its third year, Vestkysfestivalen 2007 brought together leading Norwegian and Scottish artists and featured a Scottish theme with lively traditional and classical strands. The Scottish delegation was led by mezzo-soprano Sally Garden, who also made three recital appearances.

The Vestkystfestival or 'west coast' festival features scenic island venues lying within the municipalities of Fjell, Sund and Øygarden near Bergen.

Venues include the historic mountain-top Fjell festning – an imaginatively converted Second World War fortress combining an intimate atmosphere and expansive sea views. Artists appearing at the venue in 2007 included the distinguished Norwegian violinist Arve Tellefsen and pianist Tor Espen Aspaas, Scottish mezzo-soprano Sally Garden, pianist Donald Hawksworth, and Scots fiddler, Paul Anderson.
